'''Richie Hawtin''' (born June 4, 1970) is a Canadian associated with [[Detroit techno]]'s second wave of artists who helped to change the face of electronic music along with peers [[Carl Craig]], [[Kenny Larkin]], [[Stacey Pullen]], [[John Acquaviva]], [[Daniel Bell]] and others. Hawtin is most known for his haunting minimal works under the alias ''Plastikman''. Other works appear under the aliases ''F.U.S.E'', ''Concept 1'', ''From Within'', "Up!" and more. He is also known for [[DJ|DJing]] minimal techno sets that are enhanced with equalization tweaking.

He currently runs the [[M_NUS]] and [[Plus 8]] record labels.

Although he was born in Banbury, Oxfordshire in England, Richie Hawtin is from LaSalle, Ontario, which is a suburb of Windsor, Ontario. He spent part of 2002 and 2003 living in [[New York City]], and has since moved to [[Berlin]], Germany.

== Sonar 2007 ==

[[Barcelona]]’s Sónar Festival, the essential meeting point for an alert public, cutting-edge artists and professionals from the sectors of music and modern arts will be held this year on 14, 15 and 16 of June.

Once again this year, the festival returns to the Fira Gran Via (M2) area. Sonar by Day will have its normal stages, SonarVillage, SonarComplex, SonarDome and the Hall stage, and its other classic exhibition and disclosure areas, SonarCinema, Conferences and Debates, Sonarama, SonarMatica and SonarExtra.

Confirmed acts ad DJ's so far include names such as hip-hop legends [[Beastie Boys]], [[Dave Clarke]], [[Junior Boys]], [[Radio Slave]], [[Jeff Mills]], [[Timo Maas]], [[Clark]], [[Mogwai]], [[Simian Mobile Disco]], and others.

[[Beastie Boys]] will perform two very different concerts - an instrumental one, "A Gala Event - Exclusive Instrumental Show" on Thursday in SonarPark on the opening night accompanied by the minimalist techno project, [[Narod Niki]], and another one featuring all their classics in the Friday session of Sonar by Night.

Confirmed showcases include BBC Radio 1 dubstep armada with [[Skream]], [[Kode 9]] & [[Spaceape]], Berlin-based [[Innervisions]] outfit with [[Ame]], [[Dixon]] and [[Chateau Flight]], as well as presentations from [[Ed Banger]], [[Lo Recordings]], [[Station 55]], and more.
